Searching your Databases
The askSam Web Publisher makes it easy to search through your documents. You can search in a single askSam data file, or you can define a search through multiple askSam data files (see Creating Search Forms ).
The askSam Web Publisher offers a wide variety of searches including full-text searches, Boolean searches, date searches, numeric searches, and proximity searches.
To search an askSam data file:
1. Click on the Search button in the Web Publisher button bar.

The Web Publisher Search Form will appear.

2. Enter a search in the search field.
3. Click on the SEARCH button
A list of documents retrieved by the search is output to a new window. You can scroll through this list. To display the entire contents of a selected document, click on the Hypertext link or the Document Icon.

NOTES:
1. You can define a customized Search Form. See Creating Search Forms for details.
2. The askSam Web Publisher supports advanced search commands. See the section on Search Syntax for more information.
Search Options

This option determines how the results of a search are displayed. There are 4 default views:
Ÿ Default view - Displays the first line of a selected document followed by the first three sentences containing hits.
Ÿ Summary view - Displays the first line of a selected document.
Ÿ Detailed view - Displays the first line of a selected document followed by the first seven sentences containing hits.
Ÿ Entire Page - Displays the entire document selected by your search request.
NOTE: You can customize the Default view and add new views by customizing the Search Results views using askSam. Choose VIEW - SEARCH RESULTS PROPERTIES. See the askSam User's Guide for details.

This option defines the number of retrieved documents displayed per page. The default setting displays 10 documents per page.
