Search / Help Settings

The WebAdmin Utility lets you customize and configure the Web Publisher. The Search/Help setting lets you set custom search and help pages for your askSam databases.

NOTE: You can globally define this setting by choosing Default Setting. If you wish to modify this settings for a specific file, set an Alias to the file.

• Search Page URL

When you select the Search button in the Web Publisher, a Search form appears. This setting lets you enter a URL to a Search form that you create. This URL can access an HTML file, or it can be a URL to a document in an askSam database. For information on setting up a custom Search Form see Creating Search Forms.

• Help Page URL

When you select Help in the Web Publisher, a Help page appears. This setting lets you enter a URL to a Help Page that you create.  The default URL is:

http://www.askSam.com/cgi-bin/as_web4.exe?Command=First&File=wpubhelp.ask

To access a Custom Search or Help page:

1. Start the WebAdmin utility.

(Enter the URL, for example: http://www.server.com/scripts/WebAdmin4.exe)

2. Choose Default Settings (to define this setting globally), or create or edit an Alias (to define this setting for a specific database).

3. Choose the Search / Help option at the top of the screen.

4. Enter the URL for the Search form or the Help file.  

5. Choose the SUBMIT CHANGES button.
