Importing Existing HTML Files
You can bring existing HTML files into the askSam Web Publisher. There are two approaches to importing your HTML files:
1. Use the HTML import filter. askSam will convert the HTML codes and display formatted documents on your screen. The imported files will include most formatting from your original HTML documents. There are, however, certain formats which askSam cannot import (such as image maps, tables, and graphics). If your information contains these formats, use the following method to import your information.
2. Instead of the HTML filter, import your HTML documents using the TEXT import filter. After importing a document, select the entire document and set the font of the document to SYSTEM 10. The HTML codes remain in your document, and the Web Publisher will display the document exactly as it was displayed before it was imported. If you import HTML files using this method, we recommend inserting a text in the first line of each document. When askSam searches, the search results output the first text in a document. If this text is an HTML command (as it would be in these documents), it will not display properly in the search results.
NOTE: If you're trying to import a large number of HTML files as described in #2, you can import all files at once. You won't need to change the font in each document. Simply change the FONT associated with the NORMAL style to SYSTEM 10 (using the FORMAT - STYLE menu).
