askSam: What is your role within your organization?

NOEL BROWN: I am the founding editor and publisher of The Orere Source, a database of abstracts from the pastoral care and related professional literature which I have constructed over the past 10 years for the benefit of hospital and other chaplains and parish clergy.    

askSam: Which askSam product(s) do you use?

NOEL BROWN:  askSam - the latest DOS version. Although I am not a trained programmer, with the help of manuals and the technical staff in Florida, I have been able to create programs which I use for information storage and preparation for information printing.    

askSam: Can you tell us how you use askSam?

NOEL BROWN: In my professional work, I create records of the professional literature which I have read. Because I am not restricted to key-words, I then am able to do broad searches, or to do narrow searches, by my choice, when that is appropriate.

In my personal life, I keep track of all the things that are import in my life - friends' names, address, phone numbers birthdays etc; investments, record collection and so on.    

askSam: How has askSam made your job any easier, faster or more efficient?

NOEL BROWN:  I have very fast access to a huge amount of information. My Orere Source database now contains the equivalent of about 6-7 full-size novels. Being able to search through all of that information in a few seconds makes my life and work so much easier.  

askSam:  Can you tell me about what kind of customer support you have received as a user?

NOEL BROWN:  I have been very satisfied with the customer support I have asked for. I have usually asked for support by fax which means that I have to get the specific problem very clear in my mind. I have usually received a response within 24 hours. With one special difficulty, I received a disk with the solution to what had been an insoluble issue for me.    

askSam:  Would you recommend askSam and why?

NOEL BROWN:   Without hesitation!

askSam:  What applications do you plan for askSam in the future?

NOEL BROWN:  I am about to enter the world of data-retrieval via the Internet. I am not sure what is ahead, but I am confident that I will have good assistance should I need it.
