askSam: Tell us about your areas of interest and how computer technology enhances your study and efforts to help organizations.
FRED HERNDON: I have used askSam since the first DOS Version when I created an 8088 PC Based laptop legal system for a lawyer to use with his CASE LOAD (NOTES) and bio of the CIRCUIT JUDGE DECISONS. By taking the notes into the court room, the lawyer could enter the judge's name and immediately review his pet decisons. The lawyer could also do research on the many articles and other documents he had collected in this area of LAW and the system seemed to work well.
I also created an askSam demo for a state agency for their answer/response desk for Florida Tax Laws. The demo went well and the DOR in Florida Government adopted askSam
askSam: Which of our product(s) do you use and what kind of information do you have in your askSam database(s)?
FRED HERNDON: I am currently using askSam for Windows to put the McClay Gardens Camellia Database on-line. The database contains about 2000 pictures of blossoms in JPEG format in a directory on a large system. My intentions are to append a JPEG image of the respective blossom through hypertext so that when you click on the name, a JPEG engine will be executed and open that image for viewing.
askSam: Why did you select askSam over other products?
FRED HERNDON: askSam offers speed at a low cost.
askSam: What other plans do you have for askSam.
FRED HERNDON: I plan to develop a marketable database of all 7,774 camellia blossoms on a distributable CD -- and then attack the 20,000 rose blossom picture problem by creating a similar CD product. askSam lets me see the text description along with the pictures. Structured correctly, I can see other blossoms that have an alias name as well as the primary search name.
