Resume Tracking System Overview

Welcome to the askSam Resume Tracking System ("RTS") - a product designed to organize resumes, job applications, job requisitions, names, addresses, and other information associated with the recruitment process.

askSam RTS provides a powerful tool to help human resource professionals master the facts. askSam RTS can store the full text of resumes, internal hiring policies, and a wide variety of other information. askSam RTS tracks each contact you have with the applicant along with your notes on the conversation. Once information is placed in askSam, you can locate the details you need quickly and easily through powerful search and reporting capabilities. askSam RTS helps save you time and make the recruitment process more efficient.

Installing the Resume Tracking System

1. Insert your askSam RTS CD into your CD ROM drive.

2. Run the the Setup program (setup.exe)

3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

An askSam RTS icon will be added to your desktop. To start the askSam RTS, click on the askSam RTS icon.

Terminology Used In This Guide

If you are familiar with Windows, getting started with askSam RTS will seem second nature.  askSam contains the basic elements used in other Windows applications such as: pull-down menus; short-cut keystrokes; tool bars and buttons; dialog boxes and scroll bars.  

Although a mouse (or other pointing device) is not required, a mouse does simplify many tasks.

Mouse Command     Action Required

CLICK      Press and release the left mouse button.

DOUBLE CLICK      Quickly press and release the left mouse button two times without moving the mouse.

RIGHT CLICK      Press and release the right mouse button.

DRAG      Press and hold down the left mouse button while moving the mouse and then release the button.

SELECT      Using the mouse to:

     •  Mark text by dragging the mouse over it.

                 (sometimes called HIGHLIGHTING.)

     •  Choose Menu items by clicking on them.

Menu Selections

In this Guide, the following syntax is used to show menu selections:

MENU 1 ® MENU 2     Here you would select Menu 1 and from the drop down menu

                    you would select Menu 2.

EXAMPLE: FILE ® OPEN means to choose the FILE Menu and then choose the OPEN command.

Keyboard Commands

If you prefer to keep your hands on the keyboard and still issue commands, askSam RTS offers many keystroke shortcuts.  Most of these keyboard commands are shown in the Pull-Down Menus.

In this Guide, KEYSTROKES and key combinations are shown using the following syntax:

ENTER     Single Keystrokes are shown in caps.
