"In the summer of 1995, as I was intensifying my research into the potential causes of Gulf War Syndrome, I was drowning in a sea of electronic information. DoD had just released a large volume of data onto their GulfLINK web site, and I was desperately looking for a means of searching through that data to find the locations of Iraqi chemical munitions storage sites. Conventional, business-oriented databases were useless; I needed something like what I had when I was working for the CIA: a master database that was fully key-word searchable. I looked in Home Office Computing for reviews of database programs, and found one for askSam. It sounded too good to be true: a full text indexed, key word searchable database that was specifically oriented towards academic research. I immediately ordered a copy. It transformed my computing world."

"Within minutes of loading the software and building a database of the downloaded GulfLINK data, I was immediately able to pull up the chemical munition-related information I was looking for. I would estimate that askSam cut my research time by as much as 50%...giving me more time to write and conduct interviews with Gulf War veterans. I could not have written Gassed in the Gulf without askSam.  This product is a MUST HAVE item for any serious researcher."

"askSam is an essential part of my software tool chest. I can research and collect data from anywhere and any source. Once it is in askSam I can edit, rearrange, organize, and search the information easily. Then I can present it and make it totally useful for other people via the web or CD. Fantastic!"
