askSam and DeskShare Team Up To Release Web-based Project Management Tool

Perry, Fl. -- askSam Systems and DeskShare Inc. have released Project Desk, a Web-based service to manage people, projects, and tasks. Project Desk is a Web service that can be accessed from any computer with Internet access. The system uses an intuitive Web interface along with email reminders to assist managers in delegating tasks and organizing projects.

Project Desk lets a project manager set up projects, assign users to different project teams, delegate tasks to the team members, and track the progress of each project. Team members can view and update the status of their tasks. The project manager can assign new tasks, create new projects, and monitor the status of each project and team member. Team members are notified of new tasks by email messages, and Project Desk automatically sends reminder and follow up email messages.

Project Desk includes time tracking features as well as a reporting function that monitors all phases of a project. Each project has sections for threaded on-line discussions and storage for project-related documents.

By using the Web service model, Project Desk is well suited for managing geographically dispersed teams. The application is entirely accessible via the Web and email and performs well even over a dial-up Internet connection.
