askSam 5 adds Email Import Wizards, Support for

Adobe Acrobat Files, and more

Perry, FL -- askSam Systems is now shipping version 5 of askSam, it's popular freeform database software. askSam lets you turn different types of information into full text searchable databases.

askSam 5 now offers a new Email Import Wizard. You can easily archive email messages (with attachments) from Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape, and PocoMail. For example, askSam can import information from email discussion lists and email newsletters into searchable databases. askSam can also import email sent and received by multiple individuals (for example support representatives can create a centralized database of this information).

askSam 5 can also import Adobe Acrobat files so you can utilize all of askSam's searching capabilities across any number of Acrobat documents. Version 5 also allows you to "attach" files to the askSam database so you can keep an original copy of the Acrobat files as part of the database. You can link from askSam to view these attachments in their original form in the Acrobat Viewer.

Ÿ     Sort Search Results by Relevance

Ÿ     Link to Original Files when Importing - When importing a file into askSam, you can automatically have a hypertext link back to the original file.

Ÿ     Remembered Lists - Remember the results of a query or place random documents into a Remembered List. Search, browse, edit, print, export, or delete the subset of documents in the Remembered List.

Ÿ     Email Merge - Email the results of a "mail merge" to selected contacts in your askSam database.

Ÿ     128 Bit Encryption - askSam databases can be password protected and encrypted.

Ÿ     Programming - The Professional version of askSam lets you use Visual Basic and other programming languages to enhance the functionality of askSam. From programs and utilities you create, you can access any of askSam's search functions, output data stored in fields, sort, add, edit, delete, and more. For example, you could use Visual Basic to create a data entry application to simplify entering data into askSam.
