askSam Web Publisher Receives 1997 Web Tool Award
Perry, Fl - July 31, 1997 - askSam Systems, developers of award winning free-form database and publishing software, was among thirty companies honored at the 1997 Web Tools Awards ceremony held in New York City at WEB.X / PC EXPO.
Presented an Honorable Mention in the 1997 Web Tools Awards Search Tools category, the askSam 3.0 Web Publisher, offers a simplified approach to publishing documents and databases on the Internet and intranets. The primary goal of the Web Publisher is to reduce Web site development costs by providing a quick and easy way to add and update content. askSam imports existing word processing or database files and creates new documents without using HTML. The file on the server is a "live" askSam database (not converted to HTML).
askSam includes a full-text search engine so that users can search a database or an entire Web site using full-text, Boolean, proximity, date, and numeric searches. The askSam Web Publisher provides an inexpensive approach for publishing help desks, policy manuals, reference materials and technical specifications on corporate intranets. It is also serves as a useful tool for gathering resumes, product registrations, and other information via the Internet.
An advisory board of 30 experts selected the askSam 3.0 as one of thirty products from a database of approximately 450 tools and utilities, to be honored with the 1997 Web Tool Award.
The Editors' Choice Awards were presented by Michael Floyd, Editor-in-Chief of Web Techniques (http://www.webtechniques.com), the monthly technical magazine for professionals who design, develop and manage World Wide Web sites, and Dale Dougherty, the publisher of Web Review (http://webreview.com), the premier weekly site offering practical information, opinions, and business news for people who design and develop Web sites of all sizes.
