The askSam Web Publisher simplifies publishing information on the Net
Perry, Fl - June 4, 1996 - askSam Systems is now shipping the askSam Web Publisher, a product designed to simplify publishing documents and databases on the Internet and intranets. With the askSam Web Publisher, users can create new documents or import existing documents without any knowledge of HTML. In addition, the askSam Web Publisher includes a full-text search engine so that users can search a database or an entire Web site.
Content development and maintenance are major costs associated with a Web site. The primary goal of the Web Publisher is to reduce these costs by providing a quick and easy way to add and update content. askSam imports existing word processing or database files and creates new documents without using HTML. The file on the server is a "live" askSam database (not converted to HTML). Users can edit the askSam database using askSam's WYSIWYG editor. askSam allows even novice users to quickly create, edit, and format documents for the Internet.
According to Dennis Cook of the Florida Department of Management Services, "Within an hour we were able to import a 400 page policy manual, create a table of contents with hypertext links to each chapter, and publish it with full-text searching capabilities. The askSam Web Publisher includes a powerful search engine. It supports full-text, Boolean, proximity, date, and numeric searches. Users can define custom HTML search forms for their information. The Web Publisher also allows information from HTML forms to be saved directly into an askSam database. This feature is ideal for gathering resumes, product registrations, and other information via the Internet.
The askSam Web Publisher is an excellent tool for corporate intranets. Intranet applications can be developed for help desks, policy manuals, reference materials, technical specifications.
