Florida DOR Tax Law Library Available on the Internet
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 20, 2000
Tallahassee, FL -- The Florida Department of Revenue's Tax Law Library is now available on the Internet: http://taxlaw.state.fl.us/taxlawmenu.asp.
All taxpayers, especially CPAs, accountants and attorneys, have access to all of the tax related Statutes and Rules administered by the DOR. The site also includes the Final Orders issued by the Division of Administrative Hearings; the Taxpayer Information Publications, the Tax rate information (by county), the Declaratory Statements and the Technical letters issued by the DOR; and the Attorney General Opinions, issued by the Office of Attorney General.
In addition to this public Web site, the DOR also maintains an intranet site for their employees. Users of the information have the option of searching for words or groups of words. Searches can be made within a document, or across all or a sections of documents.
"This new online system provides both the public and those of us here at the DOR the same research material," said Mary Helen Fraser. Ms. Fraser further added that the library is updated monthly.
The DOR Library has a staff of three individuals, who work directly with maintaining the library. These positions include a tax specialist who is responsible for maintaining contact with key personnel through out the agency for updated documents; a management analyst who is responsible for the structuring and posting to the Internet and intranet site; and a computer analyst who coordinates programming with askSam Systems.
The Florida Tax Law Library was programmed using Active Server Pages and the powerful askSam database engine.
