THE OTTAWA HOSPITAL, GENERAL SITE DRUG INFORMATION SERVICE

The Ottawa Hospital, General Site Drug Information Service is part of the Pharmacy Department and is staffed by pharmacists that are dedicated to that specialty.  We answer requests from all hospital staff but we most commonly receive questions from physicians, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses, and health care professionals in training.  The Drug Information Service also maintains the Ottawa Hospital, General Site Drug Formulary and the Parenteral Drug Therapy Manual.

Sangeeta Prasad, B.Sc.Pharm., is the full-time drug information pharmacist who maintains the service in collaboration with the staff of the Ottawa Valley Drug Information Service (OVRDIS).  Four pharmacy residents have a compulsory four week rotation at the beginning of their training.

Our hours of service are from 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.  One pharmacist is always on call after hours to answer urgent questions coming from the Hospital.

Only Hospital staff has access to the service as external requests are handled by OVRDIS.
