Adding/Copying Entry Forms From Another Database
Recently we've had a number of users ask if there was a way they could use an entry form from one of our pre-defined templates in one of their own database. There are also users who would like to copy an entry form from an existing database. This can be done by following the steps below.
(Please note that we will be referring to the database that contains the form you want to copy as the "source database". The database that you would like to copy the form into will be referred to as the "destination database")
1. Open your source database in askSam. If you want to copy an entry form from one of the pre-defined templates, they are usually located at
C:\Program Files\askSam\askSam 6\Templates
2. Go to TOOLS > ENTRY FORMS

3. Select the name of your form and click EDIT

4. Then go to EDIT > SELECT ALL. This should highlight the entire form.

5. Go to EDIT > COPY. This will copy the Entry Form to your clipboard
6. Now, open your destination database in askSam.
7. Go to TOOLS > ENTRY FORMS
8. Type a name for the form you are copying, and click CREATE. This will take you to a blank entry form layout screen

9. Then go to EDIT > PASTE. This will insert the form into the blank page.
10. Finally, click FILE > SAVE to save the changes you just made to your file.
As long as the styles that the entry form uses are set up the same way in both your source and your destination databases, the form should insert smoothly.
If you find that there are some font size/color differences once the form has been pasted into your destination database, you may want to compare your styles against the source database (especially the styles called "Normal", "Field", and "Field Data Default").
