A couple new items this month: we've upgraded the free askSam

Viewer that's available to download from our Web site. We've

also imported the text of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability &

Accountability Act) into a searchable askSam database that you

can search on-line or download and search on your computer. We

have details and links to more information below.

Did you ever notice the all the processes running in the

background on your computer? (You can see these in the Windows

Task Manager.) ProcessLibrary.com is a free site for anyone who

wants to know the purpose of any process running on your

computer.

Enjoy the Summer,

1) ProcessLibrary.Com - What's Running On Your Computer

When my computer feels sluggish, I check to see what processes

are running. I press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and choose the TASK MANAGER

button. This displays the Windows Task Manager, and when I click

on PROCESSES tab, I get a list of all the processes running on

my computer. Unfortunately, the items listed are a bit cryptic.

Do I really need "lsass.exe", "smss.exe", and "ati2evxx.exe"?

This is where ProcessLibrary.com is useful. This free on-line

resource lets you look up processes and gives you detailed

information about them. Find out which processes are crucial,

which are unnecessary, and which may constitute a security

threat. Quite a useful Web site, check it out at:

We've just released an upgrade version of the free askSam

Viewer. The askSam Viewer lets users browse and search manuals,

catalogs, research notes, legal texts, government regulations,

resumes, or any other information distributed in askSam

databases.

The updated askSam Viewer supports a folder view making it

easier to browse through information.  We have been providing a

variety of useful information for researchers, journalists,

academics, and other information professionals.

Just released by askSam: the HIPAA legislation in a free,

searchable askSam database. Not the most exciting reading, but

very useful for those who need it.

The askSam version of HIPAA allows you to search, browse,

and analyze the budget text, either on-line or on your own PC.

"askSam is an essential part of my software tool chest. I can research and collect data from anywhere and any source. Once it is in askSam I can edit, rearrange, organize, and search the information easily. Then I can present it and make it totally useful for other people via the web or CD. Fantastic!"
