Import your Hotmail, MSN, or Yahoo email into askSam with
IzyMail
askSam is an ideal tool for importing and managing your email archives. You can import email from most of the major email clients (Outlook, Eudora, Netscape, etc.), but this left users of web-based email clients out in the cold... until now.
We recently discovered an online service called IzyMail Online (www.IzyMail.com) that will allow you to "access Yahoo, MSN and Hotmail with any eMail application". You can use this service to download your web-based email into one of the email clients that askSam supports, and then you can import it into askSam using our standard "Import Email" function.
Setting up your email account with IzyMail is relatively easy. Simply logon to their "Get Started" page (http://izymail.com/imo_getstarted.aspx), and follow the on-screen instructions.
First, it will prompt you to choose the setup mode. On this screen choose "I want to proceed directly to the online registration pages (recommended)", and click NEXT.
After you agree to their terms and conditions, it will ask you to enter your name and email address you want to use. At this point, make sure that you enter the Hotmail, MSN, or Yahoo address you want to use, and NOT an address you have with your ISP.
Next, you will have to configure your email client to receive your messages from IzyMail. To configure your email client manually, simply create a new email account using the following settings:
Email address: screenname@yahoo.com (Your Yahoo, Hotmail or MSN address)
Incoming (POP3) Mail: in.izymail.com
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail: out.izymail.com
Account/Login name: screenname@yahoo.com
Your Yahoo, Hotmail or MSN address (again!)
IMPORTANT: Always include the ...@domain.com part with the user name
There is also a handy "Outlook (Express) Auto-configuration" button that will automatically create a new account inside Outlook 2002 or Outlook Express. If you use a different email application, it's easy to manually configure a new IzyMail account. Please consult your application's online help documentation for detailed configuration steps.
After you have configured your email client to download your emails from the server, you can set up filters to automatically file your messages into individual folders in your email application.
These steps will automatically sign you up for a free 2 week trial of the IzyMail service.
You can sign-up for a permanent account at: http://izymail.com/imo_subscribe.aspx for as low as $ 5.99 for six months.
For example...
# addresses every 6 months one-time setup
1 10.95 5.00*
2 16.95 5.00*
3 22.95 5.00*
5 29.95 -none-
(Please go to www.izymail.com for the latest pricing info)
We hope you enjoy archiving your Web-based email into askSam.
