Sort Search Results by Relevance
The Sort by Relevance feature found in the Search Results Properties menu is a powerful search tool within askSam 5. With this feature you can quickly sort all of the hits (documents) found by askSam for your search term in order of their relevance to your search. The Sort by Relevance feature will automatically list your results showing the documents with the most occurrences of your search term first. You can combine the Search by Relevance with other field sorting to get more accurate results. The number of hits in each document will be displayed in the column labeled HITS in your search results view.

Setting askSam to display search results by relevance
1. Choose VIEW -> SEARCH RESULTS PROPERTIES
Note: if you have search results on the screen choose the Search Results Properties icon in the Search Results tool bar.

2. Inside the Search Results Properties dialog select the SORT button.

3. Inside the Search Results Sort dialog select the SORT BY RELEVANCE check box.

Note:
In this example we are adding the sort relevance option to the DEFAULT search view. You can create multiple search views for each askSam file. For more information on creating multiple search views please see Chapter 8 of the askSam User's Guide.
You can choose to sort by a field along with the sort by relevance feature. askSam will first sort by relevance and then by sort. For example, if I chose to sort by relevance and by the Date field my search results would group all documents with the same number of hits together and within that group askSam would then sort by date.

4. Choose OK on the Sort Dialog and choose CLOSE on the Search Results Views dialog. 5. Do a search in askSam using either the search line or the Actions Menu. The results will be listed in sorted order by the number of hits in each document.
