FindArticles - A Great Resource for Research Search over 300 Magazines and Journals
Tell a Friend about this article!
FindArticles (http://www.findarticles.com) is a search engine that provides full text access to thousands of articles from over 300 magazines and journals. Unlike Nexis, Dialog, and other subscription services, FindArticles does not charge a fee. You can search and retrieve the full text of the articles available in their archive (dating back to 1998).
FindArticles does not contain the entire universe of publications, but it does have a nice cross section. The magazines are grouped in the following categories:
Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ
The publications range from popular titles like Better Homes and Gardens and Men's Fitness to more targeted titles like the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics and Applied Genetics News. This wide range of expert content makes FindArticles a goldmine of valuable information.
The site offers the ability to search a specific publication, a specific category, or across the entire archive. The homepage is formatted in a Yahoo-like directory. You can easily navigate to specific categories and publications.
FindArticles is a self-contained archive. It does not link back to other sites -- so when you find an article, the article text is really there (you don't end up with a link to nowhere). The downside is the archives contain only the text from the articles, not the graphics and other elements. For many articles this is not very important, but when searching Art Journal or Art in America pictures would be useful.
Finding quality content on the Web can be a chore. That's the nice part about the FindArticles Search Engine, the content that's returned is worth reading.
