Question I opened my SurfSaver/BullsEye file in askSam 5. Now, when I go to save a new page or search through my saved pages, I get the message "This file requires a newer version of the askSam Engine." What does this mean?

Answer SurfSaver in BullsEye is based on the askSam 4 engine, so basically files saved with this version are really askSam 4 files. When you open these files in askSam 5, they are converted to version 5 format. Since askSam 4 cannot open version 5 files, neither can SurfSaver in BullsEye Plus.
Resolution There are 2 options:
1. At this time, askSam Systems has no plans to release a version of BullsEye Plus that is compatible with askSam 5.
If you do not plan on upgrading to askSam 5, and need to get the file back to BullsEye Plus, there is a way.
When askSam converts a file to a new format, it creates a backup in the same directory with an AS4 file extension. For example, if you opened your Archive.ASK file in askSam 5, you should have a file in the same directory called Archive.AS4.
Simply delete the version 5 file with the ASK extension, and rename the version 4 file with the AS4 file extension back to ASK and you should be able to open it in Surfsaver 2.2 again.
2. We have a new free stand-alone version of SurfSaver built on the version 5 engine. This new version is compatible with askSam 5. We have also removed the banner ad software from this new version. You can download SurfSaver 2.3 by clicking the link below:

Note: You must have askSam build 5.0.2.596 or higher for it to be compatible with SurfSaver 2.3. You can find out what build you are running by clicking HELP > ABOUT ASKSAM.
