Question Why is my askSam 6 running slowly?

Answer There is a new feature in askSam 6 called "Folder View" that allows you to view your documents as a list of folders based on a specific field. By default, this function is turned ON.

This function does some real-time sorting of your database as you make modifications to the folder field, or the field on which you have told the program to sort.  This process may be taxing on older, slower computers, which may result in the program becoming bogged down or unresponsive.

Resolution To correct this, you may have to disable the Folder View feature and reopen your database.

1. To disable the Folder View in askSam, click VIEW > FOLDERS. This should hide the Folder View if it is open.

NOTE: There may still be some background processing related to the Folder View, even if the window is hidden. To completely stop this process, you must close any open askSam file and reopen your database.

2. To close the database, click FILE > CLOSE. (You may need to do this multiple times if you have more than one database open)

3. Next, you may reopen your database by clicking FILE > OPEN.

Now your file should open without the Folder View being displayed, and the database should show better performance.

We are currently working on optimizing this function so that it will not be so taxing on the computer, and will perform more quickly.
