Question My search bar is gone.
OR
My Search Bar is too large. How do I reset it?
Answer You can reset your toolbar inside the DISPLAY menu.
Resolution
1. Go to the VIEW menu and select DISPLAY.
2. Inside here, make sure that the "Search Line" box is checked, and click the RESET button. Next click on close.
3. This should fix the problem.

NOTE: We have had a few users report that they followed the steps above and still do not have a search bar. You can correct this by following the instructions below:
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. askSam cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
1. Go to START > RUN and type "regedit", then press ENTER.
2. This will open your Registry Editor.
3. Browse to the directory called:
(for askSam 6)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\askSam\Windows\6.0\ASKSAM
(for askSam 5)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\askSam\Windows\5.0\ASKSAM
4. Inside here you will find some folders called:
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar0
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar1
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar10
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar11
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar12
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar2
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar3
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar4
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar5
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar6
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar7
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar8
askSam_50_1084_docs-Bar9
askSam_50_1084_docs-Summary
askSam_50_1084_docs-ToolBarManager
Delete these folders by right clicking on them and choosing DELETE.
Note: Some systems may have folders with 1083 or 1085 instead of 1084. Delete these folders anyway.
5. Finally, collapse any open folders and exit the Registry Editor by clicking the X in the upper right corner.
Now, when you open askSam again, your search bar will be back to normal.
