Question

How do I save my entire file in a specified sorted order?

Answer

You must export the file out with a sort request.

Resolution

Use the following steps:

1. Open the askSam file you wish to sort permanently

2. Choose File -> Export -> Select Documents

3. Choose the Sort Selected Documents option

4. Enter the field(s) you wish to sort by and choose OK

5. Choose OK to open the Export dialog box

6. Enter a name for the sorted file

7. Choose the askSam for Windows format under File Type

8. Choose OK

Your file will be sorted and exported to the file name you entered.  When the export is complete, you can open the new file as a normal askSam file.  Your previous entry form and reports will be included in the sorted file.

"askSam is an essential part of my software tool chest. I can research and collect data from anywhere and any source. Once it is in askSam I can edit, rearrange, organize, and search the information easily. Then I can present it and make it totally useful for other people via the web or CD. Fantastic!"
