Question

After a data entry form has been created and documents have been added to a file, can you change the name of a field so that it changes in all the previous documents?

Answer

Yes.  Just use the global replace command.

Resolution

Use the following steps for example:

1. Open the file that contains the field name you want to change.

2. Choose Edit -> Global replace

3. Under Find What, type in the current field name with the field character, followed by an asterisk (*)

4. Under Replace With, type in the new field name with the field character, followed by an asterisk (*)

For example:

Find What:

     Name *

Replace With:

     Contact *

5. Choose Replace All

6. Choose File -> Pack

7. Choose Edit -> Entry form.  Change the old field name to the new field name.
