Question How can I install the askSam 4 application on the shared network drive, and run the program EXE over the network?

OR

When I set up my askSam network, all of my workstations are in "30 day trial" mode.

Answer With an askSam 4.x license, you can set up your network 2 different ways:

1.) Install the askSam application on each workstation, and put the databases on the shard network drive. This will allow you to have multiple users in a file at one time.

2.) Install the application on the server and run the askSam.EXE over the network. In order to set your network up this way, you will need to obtain an askSam Network Setup utility, created by us.

The reason for this is because askSam looks at the local system's registry to verify that the user has a valid serial number. In a network situation, since the serial number is stored in the server's registry and not the workstation's, askSam is not able to 'see' it and runs in trial mode. The askSam Network Setup Utility will hard code the serial number to your workstation's registry, as well as update any required system DLLs, if necessary.
