How do I install O'Reilly & Associates Web Server?
Answer
Use the following steps.
Resolution
1. Place the installation disk in your A-drive
2. Select Start -> Run
3. In the run dialog box, enter A:\Setup.exe, then click on OK
4. Enter your name and company name, then click on OK
5. Enter the location where you wish to install Website. The default is C:\WebSite. Then click on OK
6. Enter the name for the domain if you have one. For testing we entered - 127.0.0.1
7. Enter the Email address for the Webadmin. For testing we entered-Webmaster@127.0.0.1
8. Select the components that you wish to install
9. After installation, click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
10. Within the Control Panel select Network
11. Under the Network Options, click on Add -> Adapter -> Microsoft -> Dialup Adapter
12. Under the Network Option, click on Add -> Protocol -> Microsoft -> TCP/IP
13. Under the Network Option, Highlight TCP/IP, then click on Properties
14. Under the TCP/IP within the IP Address option, enter a valid IP Address. For testing weentered - 205.14.161.10 (Note the subnet mask should default to 255.255.255.0)
15. Under the TCP/IP within the DNS Configuration, enable the DNS
16. The host area can be anything that you want. For testing we entered - asksam
17. The domain name has to be a legal domain name. For testing we entered - serv.com
18. The DNS search server order must be a legal IP address. For testing we entered - 205.14.161.15
19. Click on OK
20. Close the Network Option. At this point Windows95 will build the new driver and ask you if you wish to restart your computer, click on OK
21. After the system has rebooted, Click on Start -> Programs -> WebSite 1.1 -> Web Server. This will start the WebSite server
22. Start Netscape or another web browser and enter the domain name that you enter during WebSite's installation. For testing we entered - http://127.0.0.1/ <PRESS ENTER>
This should bring up the O'Reilly WebSite default page.
