Question

I use Microsoft's Outlook as my email package.  Is there a way to import these messages into an askSam file?

Answer

You can import these messages if you save them in a format that askSam can read.

Resolution

In the Valuepack on the Microsoft Office 97 disk, there are export drivers to allow export of Outlook email into dBase, Text, or Comma Separated format.  Any one of these formats can then be imported into askSam.  Use these drivers to save your email into one of these formats.  Then use the following steps:

1. Create a new askSam file or open an existing one.

2. Choose File -> Import.

3. Under File Type, select the appropriate format (whatever you saved your Outlook mail as).

4. Change to the directory that holds the file(s).

5. Select the file(s) you wish to import.

6. Choose OK.
