Question I have switched to Thunderbird and I want to know if I can import emails into askSam.
Answer Yes, you can import e-mail from Thunderbird, however, if you are using version 6.x then attachments cannot be included.
Resolution Thunderbird is not listed as one of our support e-mail types but it can be easily imported using the Netscape Mail filter.
Before you begin you'll have to make sure your folders are set to view hidden files.
Show Hidden Files
1. In Windows Explorer, choose View > Folder Options (or just "Options") , and then click the View tab.
2. Select "Show All Files" or "Show hidden files and folders" in the Hidden Files section or folder, and then click OK.
Now you may begin.
1. Open or create the askSam database you wish to import your Thunderbird e-mails into.
2. Go to File -> Import E-mail
3. Then click on create.

4. Select Netscape mail and name your profile, then click next.

5. Next you'll need to find the location of your Thunderbird mailbox files on your hard drive. In order to find this open up Thunderbird click on Tools -> Account Settings. From there click on "Local Folders".

6. Click OK.
7. Select the folders you are wanting to import from. (Note: If you have two sets of folders its because you have multiple email accounts like illustrated below.)

8. Click Next.
9. Select the askSam database you wish to import into (Note: the database you are in is the database it is selected to import)
10. Click Next.
11. Choose your import date range.
12. Select your import options (Note: Attachments will not be there when you import while using askSam 6.x)
13. Click Finish.
14. You'll be brought back to the Import Email menu.
