Question Can I import my Pegasus email into askSam?
Answer Pegasus is not listed as one of our supported email types, and cannot be imported directly using our FILE > IMPORT EMAIL function.
This is on our "wish list" of features to be considered for a future version of askSam.
We have a couple of workarounds, listed below.
Resolution
The following solution will get your text messages into askSam. Please keep in mind that your email messages will be imported in "Text Only" format, and any formatting or attachments will not be preserved once the messages are imported.
1. Create a new askSam database and go to FILE > IMPORT.
2. At the top of the import window, where it reads "LOOK IN:", browse to your Pegasus mail messages directory (ex: C:\PMAIL\MAIL\ADMIN). It should be a directory with a lot of CNM files in it.
3. Where it reads "Files of Type:", change this to TEXT (*.TXT).
4. Where is reads "File Name:", type *.CMN and press ENTER. (This should make all of the CMN files appear at the top of your screen.)
5. Select all of the CMN files you want to import and click IMPORT.
This will import all of your Pegasus email messages as text.
There is also another solution you might want to try:
There is a freeware utility available online at http://www.asksam.com/files/downloads/wpeg2eud.exe (74 Kb)
This utility will convert your Pegasus email messages into a Eudora mailbox file (*.MBX). After you have used this utility, you can then import that Eudora folder into askSam either by using FILE > IMPORT EMAIL or FILE > IMPORT.
