Question
I need to import several Adobe .PDF files, but I don't see an import filter in askSam that will do it. Can I import these files?
Answer
Yes, you can. You need to first save the Adobe files into a format that askSam will read. Here's how to do that:
Resolution
a) You need at least Adobe Acrobat Reader (which you can download from their Web site: http://www.adobe.com).
b) Since Acrobat software is not able to export to any format, you need download a softwareplugin, which is able to export the text and formatting of your PDF file. There are several plug-ins on Adobe's Web site as well. We suggest the "Acrobat Access View for Windows" plug-in.
Download it an install it into your Adobe Plug_Ins directory.
c) Open the file in Adobe. Choose the File menu and export the file to either pure Text or HTML format.
d) Finally, you may import the Text or HTML file into askSam with the following steps:
1. Create a new askSam file or open an existing one.
2. Choose File -> Import.
3. Under File Type, select the appropriate format (whatever you saved your Outlook mail as).
4. Change to the directory that holds the file(s).
5. Select the file(s) you wish to import.
6. Choose OK.
