My file has become corrupted.  How do I get rid of the corruption and retain my data?

Answer

Choose File -> Pack.  If the problem still persists, export your file, create a new askSam file, and import the file back in.

Resolution

Use the following steps:

1. Create a backup of your file

2. Open your file and choose File -> Export -> Entire File

3. Under File Type choose Text Files (*.TXT)

4. Choose Set Options

5. Choose string and type @@ in the box.

6. Choose OK

7. Name the file Export.txt (or another name of your choice), and choose OK to begin the export

8. Choose Close when the export is complete

9. Choose File -> New and give the new file a name

10 Choose OK

11. Choose File -> Import

12. Under File Type choose Text Files (*.TXT)

13. Choose Set Options

14. Choose string and type @@ in the box

15. Click on Remove Delimiter String

16. Choose OK

17. Select the Export.txt file and choose OK to begin the import

18. Choose Close when the import is complete

You must create a new entry form and reports in this new file

"askSam is an essential part of my software tool chest. I can research and collect data from anywhere and any source. Once it is in askSam I can edit, rearrange, organize, and search the information easily. Then I can present it and make it totally useful for other people via the web or CD. Fantastic!"
