Question Whenever I double click on an askSam file, it attempts to be opened in a different application other than askSam.
Answer Your file associations have been changed somehow.
Resolution There are 2 ways to resolve this problem.
1) Reinstall askSam. This should reset your file associations.
2) Manually reset your file associations. Please follow the instructions below:
Win 95/98/ME
Remove an Existing File Association
Windows 98
Click Start, point to Settings, click Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab. In the Registered file types list, click the file type or file extension that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
Windows Me
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Folder Options.
Click the File Types tab.
In the Registered file types list, click the file type that you want to remove, and then click Delete.
Click Yes if you receive an Are you sure you want to remove this file extension? message.
Associate a File Extension with a File Type
In Windows Explorer or My Computer, locate the file for which you want to create a file association.
Right-click the file, and then click Open With. If Open With is not an option, hold down the SHIFT key while right-clicking the file.
Open With should now be an option.
In the Open With dialog box, select the program that you want to use to open the file.
Click to select the Always use this program to open these files check box to make this the default program to open files with the same file-name extension.
Click OK.
The file now opens in the intended program.
Windows XP
To See All File Extensions
On the Tools menu in My Computer or Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.
To Change File Associations
Right-click a file with the extension whose association you want to change, and then click Open With.
In the Open With dialog box, click the program in which you want the file to open, or click Browse to locate the program you want.
Select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box.
