Question When I convert my version 1.x, 2.x, 3.x file to version 4, it changes the size of the file.

Answer When you convert files from askSam 3.0 to askSam 4.0 they can be bigger or smaller. It depends on the information that you are converting.

Resolution askSam 4.0 adds some extra overhead to each record in your database, but it's optimized to deal with longer documents and it has better graphic compression. We've done this to increase the integrety of the data and to increase the size of the databases that we handle.

This means that askSam 3.0 files will be smaller if the files have very small records. askSam 4.0 files will be smaller if the files have longer records. Also, Formatting in v4.0 takes up slightly more space but can be smaller if styles are used in heavily formatted documents.
