Question What is the difference between the free version and the PRO version of SurfSaver?
Answer The main differences between the free version and the paid version are:
1. The free version limits the location that your files are stored in to the
C:\Program Files\askSam\SurfSaver\Files directory. The PRO version allows you to store SurfSaver folders on different drives and directories (even Zip drives).
2. The free version used to be supported by banner ads that were displayed at the bottom of the search results page. The company that used to provide the banner ads has since gone out of business, but there is still a large open area for the banner ads in the free version which is not present in the PRO version.
3. The SurfSaver Import Utility. This utility allows you to directly import HTML and Text files into SurfSaver folders. This utility can be found by going to START > PROGRAMS > SURFSAVER > IMPORT UTILTY.
4. The PRO version is Network capable, meaning you can share your folders with other users on a network.
If you are not able to Browse to a different directory to store your folders in, you are probably still running the free version. You can click on "SurfSaver Search", click CANCEL, then click ABOUT in the search results bar, it should tell you your exact version.
