Question

When I activate the ReadIris OCR from FILE -> OCR menu in askSam, a dialog appears telling me I need to configure the scanner before I can use the OCR. My scanner is already configured. What's up?

Answer

Basically, this problem is caused by the difference in the win.ini entry between the 16 and 32 bit version of readiris. It's a minor change ReadIris made in their 32 bit version, and can be easily corrected (see below). This will be taken care of in the next ReadIris maintenance release.

Resolution

You need to make a minor change in the WIN.INI file.

1. Close askSam and ReadIris if either application is opened.

2. Launch sysedit

3. Go to the WIN.INI file.

4. Search for the Readiris
