Topic ActiveX errors
Applies_To SurfSaver
Version 1.x
Last_Update September 23, 1999
Question Whenever I try to Save with SurfSaver, I get an ActiveX error.
Answer This problem usually occurs with WindowsNT 4.x and the Service Packs. Here's what you need to do.
Resolution
1) Uninstall SurfSaver.
2) Run the IE5 repair utility. If you don't have it, you need to get it from Microsoft. More than likely, it will give you an error in caxctle.ocx calling "DllRegisterServer". To save you a few steps, the "DllRegisterServer" is located in comcat.dll. However, your comcat.dll file probably wasn't updated when you installed the Service Pack.
4) You'll need to Reinstall SP5. The comcat.dll should finally update.
5) Run IE5 repair. If everything shows OK, reinstall SurfSaver.

"askSam is an essential part of my software tool chest. I can research and collect data from anywhere and any source. Once it is in askSam I can edit, rearrange, organize, and search the information easily. Then I can present it and make it totally useful for other people via the web or CD. Fantastic!"
