Creating a searchable email archive with askSam is easy - you can do it in three quick and easy steps:

Set up email profiles with the Import Wizard

Use the Email Import Wizard to create a profile (or profiles) for the mailbox(es) you wish to archive.

Once you tell askSam where to look for your email, you are ready to create a searchable archive!

Archive your email messages in askSam
Creating a searchable archive with askSam is a simple as clicking File, Import.

Note that once the archive is created, askSam imports only messages that are new since you last archived.

After you've got your email safely archived in askSam, you can delete them from your inbox to reduce your e-mailbox clutter (but you don't have to).

Organize and search your messages
Simply type any words or phrases you wish to find, and askSam will list all the matching documents. With askSam you can search the full text of your email AND attachments, or you can restrict your search to specific fields (perhaps From, Subject, or Message). You can search by date, use wildcard searches, fuzzy searches, even proximity searches. askSam offers the fastest and most powerful searches you'll find anywhere your information will be where it belongs... at your fingertips.

When you search, askSam instantly lists the messages retrieved by your search. You'll see how many results are turned, how many "hits" in each of the messages, and a list of each of the messages. Clicking on any item in the list displays the message in the top portion of the screen. If a message has attachments, you can open the attachment in its original application (for example Microsoft Word, Excel, or Adobe Acrobat).

Advanced features
If you are a heavy email user, you'll probably have different categories of email that you need to store in different archives.

You can set up separate archives for different mailboxes (or groups of mailboxes). For example, messages from personal mailboxes (family and friends) can go into one archive, messages from listserves can be saved in other archives, and business email in another archive. This simplifies organizing and searching the email archives.
