6. Adequate Funding
Major League Baseball budgeted $3,740,000 for its drug testing program in 2006.
This amount included testing under both the major league and minor league programs, and for
testing in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.558 We did not obtain any information to
suggest that cost concerns hindered the operation of the program, and I have been advised by the
Commissioner’s Office that there is a commitment to provide the necessary funding to operate
the program in accordance with its terms.
