We spoke with Ethan Stein, a former minor league player who played two seasons

with Jeremy Giambi, 1996 in Spokane and 1997 in Lansing, and frequently trained and had

occasional conversations with him in the weight room. Stein said that during one of those

conversations in 1996, Giambi admitted that both he and his brother used steroids and told Stein

that he could get him steroids. Stein responded that he was not interested. When Stein later saw

Giambi during spring training in 1997, his physique had changed dramatically. He noticed

increased muscular development, as well as hair loss and back acne.
