The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and his Principal Deputies
General Counsel (OGC)
The General Counsel is nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate, a requirement added in the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1997. The General Counsel serves as the legal adviser to the D/CIA and is responsible for the conduct of all the Agency's legal affairs. The Office of General Counsel provides legal interpretation of any statute, regulation, or Executive order relevant to the D/CIA.
