More Judge Samuel Alito:

  • On October 31, 2005, Judge Alito was nominated by President George W. Bush to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court left by the retirement of Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Judge Alito has served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit since 1990.
  • On January 24 by a 10-8 party line vote the Senate Judiciary Committee recommended that Samuel A. Alito Jr. be confirmed by the full Senate as associate justice of the Supreme Court.
  • Samuel Anthony Alito Jr. was born April 1, 1950.
  • Attended Princeton University and Yale University Law School. 
  • LexisNexis reports that Alito has written more than 700 opinions (subscription required).
