Troubleshooting Reports
The following is a list of commonly asked questions about reports. We have more information like this available in the FAQ section on our Web site (http://www.askSam.com/faq/)
The answers may help solve problems you encounter while creating and running reports.
Question: When I run my report, the message "No Matches Found" appears and my report is not output.
Answer: This indicates that askSam is not locating any Documents meeting your selection criteria. Check the following:
· Check the Search defined for your report. Execute the same Request from the Search Dialog in the Actions Menu. Are any Documents retrieved? If not, check the Request step-by-step until you locate the problem.
· If your Search is correct, check your Sort definition. If you attempt to sort on a field which does not exist, the No Matches Found Dialog Box will appear.
· In the Report Editor, choose REPORT -> PROPERTIES, select the SETTINGS tab, and check the
Match Case setting. If this setting is set to “Yes”, set it to “No” and try again.
Question: I have a field Title[ that is two lines long. When I place the field in a report, only the first line is output.
Answer: When you place your Title field, define it as a Multiple Line Field. Do this by clicking on the button after the field, and change the “Field Length” setting from Single Line to Multiple Line.
Question: Sometimes when I output a multiple line field, the field that follows it is also output.
Answer: When you output a multiple line field, the field outputs information until it reaches the character ] (closing bracket). If your multiple line field is not ended by a bracket, the information from the next field will be considered part of the multiple line field. You have two options to correct this situation:
· Insert the ] Character in your Documents.
· Click on the button after the field, and set the “Field Terminator” setting to another field terminator, for example, a blank line.
