Ÿ Removed "All Files" option from the Import dialog.

Build 6.0.2.773 ( askSam 6 ) Released on March 23, 2005

Ÿ Folder View does not display folders or list of documents for the first file that you open. This happens sporadically. It starts to display these items as you open multiple files after this.

Ÿ Display problem with browser view. If you switch between Browser view and Document view, the Web page appears for a second or two and then blanks out.

Ÿ Modified CSV import to allow expansion of multiple line fields after data is imported.

Ÿ New Log Function records emails that are sent via Email-Merge.

Ÿ Fixes askSam crashing problem when you overwrite an indexed file and then import.

Ÿ Corrects askSam 5 file conversion and backup problem while using SAVE WEB PAGE TO ASKSAM. Changed the behavior to convert only the file user wants to save to rather than files in the entire directory. This had caused un-intentional conversion for one user. Also creates .AS5 backup of the file.

Ÿ Fixes first line problem in the folder view. Previously certain punctuation characters (.!;?) would make askSam to not display the first line correctly in the folder view.

Ÿ Includes an updated Getting Started Guide (added new tutorials), Help System and User's Guide.

New Additions:

Ÿ Adds a new feature that lets you bring Web pages into askSam directly from the IE browser. Just right click and choose SAVE WEB PAGE TO ASKSAM command.

Ÿ Adds an ability to save Web pages into Entry Forms. The Entry Form menu and the Wizard have been enhanced to include hotkey commands such as Web Page Title, Web Page URL, Web Page Keywords, Web Page Notes. This gives you the flexibility to arrange and design fields the way you want.

Ÿ Adds an ability to open "Getting Started", User's Guide", "Readme", and "Sample Reports" from Help menu.

Ÿ Fixes a design issue that prevented Pick List from working if the file was moved to another directory. Now dynamic Pick List built from the current file works regardless of where ther file resides.

Ÿ The User's Guide has been updated and is included with askSam. We've added new screenshots and new sections.

Ÿ Fixes problem with saving Web Page Properties back to askSam. NOTE: The command SurfSaver Properties has been renamed to Web Page Properties.

Ÿ Fixes a problem when switching between browser view and document view there would be no data displayed after packing a file or switching document types.

Ÿ Fixes a problem with attachment button being grayed out when moving to that document via a Bookmark or Document Name hyperlink.

Ÿ Fixes report crashing bug with invalid hot field data.

Ÿ Search results now retain focus when switching to & from askSam and another application.

Ÿ The un-installation routine now asks users whether they want to remove the keyboard and toolbar customization settings or not. NO option keeps these settings so that when you re-install, customized toolbar reappears.

Ÿ Fixes displaying of Field Contents Folder View. In the last build, users were able to see folders and documents in Folder View, but it was displaying first line only.

Ÿ Fixes document truncation problem for long documents. In the last build, users who imported very large sized documents (150 Page or More), document were being imported or pasted correctly, but due to some reasons they were being truncated when displaying inside the askSam Edior.

Ÿ Fixes losing focus when you're at the top and move UP or at the very bottom of the record and move DOWN using keyboard.

Ÿ Fixes losing focus problem when you move to another program and come back to askSam. Focus is now supposed to stay where it was before you moved away.

Ÿ Fixes context sensitive Help in askSam. Now, Help buttons on all the dialogs work.

Ÿ Updated Getting Started Guide.

Ÿ Fixes Multiple Selections in the Search Results Window.

Ÿ Now exiting askSam is faster than the previous builds.

Ÿ Fixes the askSam crashing problem when you close a tab in search results window.

Ÿ Fixes a problem with Associate Search Results View feature wherein the view does not change properly if it happened to be sorted view. Also fixes a problem wherein view does not change when you select a new view.

Ÿ Fixes Close button problem on the Import and Import Email dialog. Previously, Close button would not respond.

Ÿ Import dBase/FoxPro Database -- Certain types of dBase and FoxPro databases would not get imported into askSam if they did not contain table structures. Now askSam imports them regardless.

Ÿ FILE -> EXPORT -> REPORT, using Export Type ASK, produces an empty ASK- file only. We fixed this problem. We also fixed a problem of exporting a report into a TXT file doesn't create a TXT file but RTF.

Ÿ Shortcut Keys under certain circumstances were not working. We've corrected that.

Ÿ We've removed a questionable option in View | Display.

Ÿ     Pick List in Report Prompts - Previously users could not select another option from the pick list very easily.

Ÿ     Removed View > Browser command as it was not needed.

Ÿ     Fixes the problem with printing Page Numbers in report.

Ÿ     We fixed a problem with sorting of negative values during report output.

Ÿ     File Pack Changing Properties. In File | Properties, the Print each doc on a separate page Option, when being set to Yes, is changed to the default No whenever we execute File | Pack.

Ÿ Page Number Command (^N) was not working in Page Header.

UI Enhancements/Changes:

Below are the changes we've made in the user interface of askSam 6 in this build.

Ÿ We've changed some of the keyboard behavior.

          - Delete documents by pressing the DEL key.

          - Navigating through documents using UP/DOWN Arrow on the Keyboard.

Ÿ     Similarly users can navigate through document using a SINGLE CLICK in documents and DOUBLE CLICK or ENTER key in case of items in tools.

Ÿ     Now, the default placement of Folder View Pane is left. Although, users can dock that window to the right or anywhere on the screen if they wish.

Ÿ     We've re-arranged the document and tools windows for Folder View. Now, document window is at the top.

Ÿ Install adds an icon on the Add/Remove control panel for easier identification.

Ÿ     Removes Import with Wildcard and Subdirectories Feature.

Ÿ     Removes All Files/Recent Files tabs on the folder view.

Ÿ     Fixes a usability problem with Picklist in Report Prompt for User as well as during Administration.

Ÿ     Rearranges toolbar. Similar items are grouped together.

Ÿ     Adds opening of documentation and getting started manual right from the Help menu.
