1) Top 100 Blogs

Blogs are everywhere. According to an article in PCWORLD, "In

April the blog search engine Technorati reported that it was

tracking 70 million blogs, with 120,000 new ones arriving every

day.

I'm an avid Blog reader. There is great information to be found in

Blogs. But now that Blogs are easy to understand

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog) and simple to create (see:

http://www.blogger.com & others) it becomes increasingly difficult

to locate quality Blogs.

There are lots of Blog lists and Blog Search engines, like...

http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch, http://blogs.clusty.com/

& http://technorati.com/ among others. But finding the Blogs you

want can still be a needle in the haystack process.

I ran across two great "Top 100" Blog collections that just might

help you find that Blog in the webstack you've been looking for.

These lists are hand picked and categorized with links to some of

the top information anywhere on the web.

Happy hunting.

2) The askSam Web Research Template -- Perfect for Blogs

The askSam "WEB RESEARCH TEMPLATE" (included with askSam Standard

and Professional) is the perfect place to collect, track and

search research gathered from Blogs and other web sites.

To use this template simply...

1. Choose FILE -> NEW

2. Select the "WEB RESEARCH TEMPLATE" from the list

3. Click CREATE

4. Give the file a name and location

Once the database is created you can begin saving blog information

and other web articles by copy and paste or by right mouse

clicking on a web page and selecting "SAVE WEB PAGE TO ASKAM".

Don't forget about using the save selected web page text feature.

Just highlight a section of a web page to save, right mouse click,

choose "SAVE WEB PAGE TO ASKSAM" and askSam will save only the

selected section to the database.

Also, when using the Web Research Template with "Save Web Page to

askSam" askSam will automatically save page information like

title, URL, date, keywords and notes. Plus, use the CATEGORY field

to categorize your web pages for easy searching.

3) Free Product: BlogBridge

For me I want to be able to easily locate and read my Blogs. If

you do not want to use a browser integrated reader or one that

works with your email client give BlogBridge a try. Simply install

the program and follow the steps to get started. If you've been

reading Blogs for years or just getting started this program is

just what you need.

BlogBridge is a Java based RSS reader that finds blog items based

on keywords and category topic. You can also subscribe to any RSS

feed by adding the URL to the list. The program is easy and

intuitive to setup and the interface is extremely readable. The

program also integrates with an optional online service that lets

you access your feeds from any browser over the Internet.

Clicking on a Blog item loads the full article in your browser in

the background for later reading. BlogBridge includes support for

almost all feed formats, syncing feeds between PCs, and good

searching.

your suggestions in future editions of the Surf Report.

5) SurfSaver and Blogs

SurfSaver is the perfect browser add-on for collecting, organizing

and searching Blog information. Simply find a Blog article (or any

other web page or article), right mouse click on the page and

choose "SurfSaver Save". SurfSaver automatically stores important

information like title, URL and date and allows you to enter your

own keywords and notes. Web pages can be saved into folders and

are fully searchable -- even when you're off-line. Best of all

SurfSaver is only $29.95.

"askSam is an essential part of my software tool chest. I can research and collect data from anywhere and any source. Once it is in askSam I can edit, rearrange, organize, and search the information easily. Then I can present it and make it totally useful for other people via the web or CD. Fantastic!"
