1) Library of Congress - Online Resources
The Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural
institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is
also the largest library in the world, with more than 130
million items on approximately 530 miles of bookshelves. The
collections include more than 29 million books and other
printed materials, 2.7 million recordings, 12 million
photographs, 4.8 million maps, and 58 million manuscripts.
All of this information is searchable online - from books to
prints and photographs to sound clips and more. The Library of
Congress page offers quick searches by title, author, etc as
well as guided searches intended to help you build more complex
searches to really find what you need.
When searching the online catalog individual results can be
select and printed, saved, or emailed. You can even select a
MARC format to save or print.

4) askSam and Nexus Radio - Create a searchable audio archive
askSam is a great tool for archiving information - all types of
information. I use askSam to archive audio and video clips that
pertain to research. Using the "Link or Attach Only" and "Import
Into Entry Form" import option askSam can create documents that
allow you to enter information about an audio or video clip.
askSam then automatically provides the link to the original
document. You can use the askSam search engine to find audio and
video clips and simply click on the link to see or hear the
clip.
Nexus Radio is a great source of audio research. There are
hundreds of news stations available in Nexus Radio. Simply set
Nexus Radio to record and it will create MP3 files of selected
radio broadcasts - including news, talk shows, sermons, and
discussions not to mention all the music.
Also, the ability to import audio and video clips into askSam is
perfect for archiving seminars, training, voice recordings from
your personal recorder and more.
