Ever wonder where you can find free technical advice on the Web?
While there is no free lunch there is some free technical advice
available on-line. Read this month's article to find out where.
askSam has had a face lift. We redesigned our Web site in hopes
of becoming a more valuable resource to our users. Let me know

FREE TECHNICAL HELP ON-LINE
The Web is full of great resources for solving computer related
problems. Support sites offer a wide array of information
including FAQs (frequently asked questions), Knowledgebases,
"How to" articles, and forums where you can post questions to
other users. There's something for everyone -- and don't be
intimidated, some of the Web sites may be targeted toward
techies, but other sites are meant for novices.

SURFSAVER USER STORY
I use SurfSaver as a way to collect information I need for just
about everything I'm interested in. However, there is one thing
I do that helps my kids be more productive at school and helps
me advance ideas. I make sure I store information on things like
Global Warming, gun rights issues, social policy, abortion, etc.
When my kids come to me to ask for help finding topics for their
school papers ( elementary through college ) I have a ready
source of research to give them on topics I want to educate
them and their fellow students on.
Sometimes the teachers have rejected the points of view and
even said that the information was in error. It was easy to
email them all of the data in my SurfSaver file on the topic.
Teachers are always amazed and the kids have never gotten less
than an A+ .

askSam Tip:
Data entry is a nightmare. It's tedious and not always
consistent. Did you know that askSam offers you the ability
to create Pick Lists for your most used fields? With a Pick List
you define a list of entries for a field. When you enter data in
that field, you can have the list automatically appear, or
simply press a key to display the list. Then choose the entry
you want to insert in the field. Not only do Pick Lists speed
up data entry but they prevent misspelled words and
inconsistencies that keep you from locating your information.
This is especially useful when multiple people are entering
data.
Pick Lists can be used on specific fields or can be set to be
accessed from any point in an askSam file. Also, Pick Lists can
be exported and saved to be used in other askSam files. And,
