| I have great success using either VMware (cost) or Sun (free) virtual machines to make applications work within Vista or XP for that matter.
Use mostly for testing applications or 'sandboxing' - when done I erase and reload the vm from backup. Never interfers with my 'running' machine.
The Sun VM (virtual machine) is freeware and can be found via this link:

| Mulberry uses true mbx (unix/window/OSx format) standard. If you want to follow the standard as per the RFC then this is the one to use.
Both Eudora and PocoMail use a modified version of this mbx 'standard'. Both of these can be set to store attachments outside of the mbx file. The storing of messages within the mbx file is also changed. This is to get around a problem with having a line starting with 'From email address', there is a message delimiter and padding between each mailo message ... |

| Thank you for the hints, but I have never run Eudora, nor has the email client changed since 1999.
The machine in question is using Pegasus
I have tried the MAPI.DLL trick, no joy.
Checked the full backup tape from the weekend and monthly from 6 months ago - file date/size had not changed. This is a recent maybe two weeks issue, was working properly for RTF imports in Feb.
The last time I tried the search on the forum it was not working therefore I did not even try, bad ... |

| Steps that seem to have worked:
Removed askSam using RevoUnistall
cycle power
Removed the mapi32.dll from the prefetch queue (cache)
cycle power
Re-install askSam 6.1.2.811
Now Import works as before {happy days}.
Why did this happen? Unsure, did find it rather interesting that askSam uses over 900 registry entries that are left after the built-in uninstall completed.
Back to using the application, can not do without {been using since DOS 4.2 in 1987?}.
Thank you.

Re: Changing Folder and Document Order within a file

| It is my understanding that the Folder List (View | Folder -- Control G) is sorted in Alpha order by default.
The field that has been assigned for the 'Folder' list via the option button (top right of the Folder dialog) allows for sort (default), then a sub allows for Alpha, Numeric, Date types.
Advanced options allow for more than one field to be used.
Folders in askSam are not like Parent/Child tree (File Explorer etc) items.

| If you need to be able to convert Thunderbird to another format... try Aid4Mail from Fookes Software. The pro version will convert Thunderbird to Outlook .pst (2000 - 2003 versions) without any problem.
Had to do this for my place of work (Law Firm).
http://www.aid4mail.com
Cost less than $50 USD, well worth it.
The standard version will convert Thunderbird mailbox to formats the askSam can read/import properly. |
