Paul .. would you try and see if the Calendar Template couldn't be available for download this or latest next month. It was late last year, plus appointments slated for several months from now are in limbo.

Another annoyance.
V6.2 resides on my hard drive. V 7 on an external drive for testing.
Sometimes when I access a file, on my agenda (Cal) for example on 6, I get the message that I cannot because it is in a different (newer) format. Banging away at it eventually settles the problem, but it is still strange since my external drive is shut off and there is no way for V 6 to access it.
Saving web pages to V 7 is still impossible. It works from from V 6 I get nothing from ... |

I have been testing askSam 7 for the past few days .. and some of my problems I already see reported by others.
An original seems to be when saving web pages to askSam. Choose "save web pages to askSam" ... no box or anything appears.

| 7. | Problem accessing files in a database

I have run into a problem gaining access to my files in a database containing over 1600 documents.
I can access the database entry page but the listing of documents does not appear (on the left), and trying to access any of the documents contained results finally in the message "The program is not responding".
I had this problem a week ago when I last accessed the folder, Packed it, and all was well after that.

Further to the above. I have discovered I can in fact access this database, but only with folderview turned off.
When opening the db, folderview doesn't function in any case. All others work properly, or seem to.
Any ideas ??? Any idea how to repair whatever ?

I have tried in various ways to save a web page (several different tried) to askSam with no success.
Message tells me an error occurred in the script on that page and that the objest doesn't support this property or method.
I have tried to do this from the askSam Home site, with askSam open, closed, new file open.. any permutation and combination I could think of. These pages save fine to Surfsaver by the way, so they are not the problem.

I should also mention that I had a 'script' problem installing, Norton claiming I had a high risk problem with Autorun.hta. Scripts seem to be my bugaboo with this version of asksam.
I am waiting for a new cd and hope this will solve my problem.

I have been diligently working away with version 6.00 of askSam and I must say I'm pretty tired.
When I ran the demo I found it somewhat flaky but figured things would work better once a little more time had passed, bugs worked out, and I settled down to some serious work with a new copy.
Well, I have already reported on my problem with saving web pages to askSam (they don't) and now something else, AS seems to think there are several of us are working on the same ... |

Tried to install three times, stopped by Norton A.V. all times with message .. "Malicious
Script Detected" "HIGH RISK"
"AutoRun.hta Windows Script Host Shell object. Your computer is stopped and you must do something about this object" "Stop this script is recommended" which I did. End of installation.
What do I do now??

As I understand it, in askSam 6 web pages can be saved to askSam directly, Right click, choose 'save to askSam' etc.
I presently keep all graphics in a file separate from my askSam text files to facilitate backing up and for other reasons.
Is there a way I can save to this file consistently,... without having to reset the path each time a save is made?
I am not currently running V6 or I would check myself. Just curious.

Thanks to all of you, I now have my answer.
I currently use SurfSaver and was curious to know if importing into askSam once it was chosen (right click) offered the same choices and import ease as SurfSaver did.
I was considering askSam6 in part as a replacement for SurfSaver, now another reason not to upgrade.

I have several comments and questions to ask.
I have installed V6.00 of Surfsaver and while I find it strange I realize I will have to spend some time with it before it becomes familiar. So far my first impression is that it takes longer to operate, more keying. For example when first open for browsing, my folders would be listed ready for selecting. I now have to click on 'Files' in order to arrive at the same point.

I have ordered the new version of askSam (upgrade) and would like some input on the following.
I have always installed the latest upgrade in a separate partition on my HD while keeping the last version operational. The reasons for this go back to a time when serious problems arose with a new version I installed and I had to replace the older version to continue working while those were worked out. Keeping the old has always worked well enough for me, but I have found problems ... |

Something strange has happened with my Remembered Lists. For one thing clicking on the arrow that takes me to the last document in the list no longer does so, only the single document arrow functions as it should. Clicking on the return to document 'one' arrow does work however.
To sum up, I can't go forward to the last document in a set using the arrow but can return to the first document in a set using the 1st arrow.
All my Remembered Lists show this deficiency except for a ... |

I owe you all an apology. When the message 1st appeared claiming the file should be packed it asked if I wanted the file packed which I did. It went through the motions which changed nothing.
However after sending the above message I decided to pack the file independently of the message (before the message appeared or I entered any command). This repacking worked and after that all else worked as well. Strange, I never had this problem before, nor did I delete anything which would ... |

I have been making changes to the entry form (template) suggested for copying into askSam from the browser. All went well until recently.. now whenever I try to make changes to the form I get the message "This document is locked by another work station" Of course it isn't, I am operating alone with one copy of askSam on tap.
Rebooting and trying again doesn't help.
Also..
Setting up folder view settings always gives me "First Line" then the ... |

I am working to evaluate the latest version 6 of askSam, and am currently wrapped up in
testing the Save Web pages to askSam feature.
I am having much difficulty, so much so that I am beginning to think either the software is
corrupted or else there is a bug somewhere.
First, somehow a document (in code) has been created in my folder which I cannot remove. I get the message that "This document is locked by another work station"

I have used askSam for quite a few years and never until recently found it necessary to
create an entry form with more than a single field per line. Now that I do, I find the
results awkward. I quickly gammed to the need to use tabs in order to keep the second field on a line in place when entries are made, what bothers me is the need to use a closing bracket as well.

An anomaly ...
Have created a Link to a file WebPage residing in my folder Ask6files.
No problem with any of this so far (same arrangement I had previously with V 5.x)
Used 'Customize' to set up Arrows (Previous, Next etc) in my toolbar (#2) as I have always worked that way.
All works fine. .. Except..
When in WebPage looking at my files in graphic mode. My 'Standard" Tool Bar (#1) disappears, contents goes to ToolBar #2, ToolBar #2 ... |
